Didima Beach

Didima (Δίδυμα, meaning "twins") is one of the most photogenic beaches on the west coast of Chios — a spectacular double-bay formation where two adjacent coves, separated by a rocky headland, create a dramatic natural composition unlike anything else on the island. The two bays have different characters. The northern cove is slightly larger, with a white-pebble beach and calm water sheltered by the headland — ideal for swimming and snorkelling. The southern cove is smaller, rockier, and more dramatic, with deeper water that glows an intense blue-green in full sun. Steep cliffs rise on both sides, giving the whole setting a raw, cinematic quality. Didima is located on the west coast of Chios, roughly halfway between Mesta and the Chios fir forest — about 32 km southwest of Chios Town. The beach is unspoilt and almost entirely undeveloped: no facilities, no sun loungers, no noise. Just the two coves, the cliffs, and the sea. The road to Didima is in good condition except for the last 100 metres, which is a dirt track. There is no public transport. A car is essential. Combine Didima with a walk through the medieval fortress village of Mesta (15 min drive), the best-preserved medieval village in Greece, for a perfect western Chios day.
